Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Review Canadian tax filings (including T1, T2, T3) and US personal tax filings (1040, 1040NR) prepared by staff to ensure all tax-related matters adequately addressed.
  • Offer tax planning services to clients.
  • Research tax issues and prepare memoranda.
  • Identify client service opportunities.
  • Participate in special engagements
  • Enhancing existing and developing new community relationships and networks.
  • Manage staff in the tax group and provide daily guidance, coaching and developing their tax knowledge.
  • Supporting and mentoring firm staff in respect of tax matters.
  • Preparing and presenting technical sessions for staff.

A successful candidate will have:

  • (3 – 5 +) years of progressive public accounting experience with a tax specialty and a professional designation.
  • Successful completion or in the process of completing the CPA In-depth tax course.
  • Sound technical knowledge of Canadian tax-related issues.
  • Sound technical knowledge of US personal tax-related issues.
  • The ability to provide value-added service to clients.
  • Computer skills including Caseware and Taxprep.
  • Strong understanding of a client-focused environment including related deadlines and the ability to work to meet those deadlines.
  • Sound judgment regarding confidential and sensitive matters.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong work ethic and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
